Sent one programme, one FDC and two index cards to John Edrich 3 weeks ago and received back 27/10. He kindly signed all my items.
John Edrich played first class cricket for Surrey and England from 1958-78.
He scored a total of 39,790 runs during his 20 yr career, including a top score of 310 not out against New Zealand in July 1965.
He made 77 test appearances fro England between 1963-76, scoring 5,138 runs at an average of 43.54. He made 12 -100's & 24 - 50's, including his top score of 310 no. In the field he took 43 catches.
He played in 7 ODI's, scoring 223 runs, making 2 - 50's, with a top score of 90.
In 1977 he made his 100th first class century for Surrey, and was awarded the MBE in the same year.
In 1981 he became a test selelctor and in 1995 was named as England's batting coach.
