Sent my Sunderland programme, photos and index cards to Jack Ashurst via Sunderland FC on 9/2 received all back signed on 14/4. He is the sixth player to sign programme along with Jim Montgomery, Dick Malone, Joe Bolton, Mickey Horswill & Dave Watson.

John "Jack" Ashurst was a defender who played around 616 league games, scoring 13 times between 1972-93. He played for Sunderland 1972-79, Blackpool 1979-81, Carlisle Utd 1981-86, Leeds Utd 1986-89, Doncaster R. 1988-92 & Rochdale 1992-93.

Lovely reply.  I remember Jack having a real finger pointing arguement with someone in the crowd at the end of a game once who was chastising the side for holding out for a nil-nil draw - classic stuff!
