Hi

Hi All,

Under threat, here's a brief introduction -

Apologies for my lack of participation. I joined the group last year just as my life was falling apart - my Mother's terminal illness (she passed a few weeks ago), my Dad's declining health (both were in hospital simultaneously for 6 months), the loss of my parents home in the winter weather, a chronic illness myself, and PC problems. And it just goes on... (soory!). So, while I understand the need to keep the group active, I just wanted to point out that there are probably good reasons why at least some of us aren't terribly active. I can't promise I will be in the immediate future either, so if you would prefer to delete me, I understand. It was pure luck that I was even able to get on the net to receive the warnings tonight, and my PC will, hopefully, be gone for repairs very soon.

I don't consider myself a major collector. I started mainly as an excuse to meet a few filmmakers and musicians who's work I admired, not especially easy in Scotland. My first autograph was from Kenneth Williams, who my Mum wrote to for me when I had my first bout of serious illness as a child. He was kind enough to keep in touch for a number of years. I was/am a huge Carry On fan, and did collect a few of the team back in the day, but have unfortunately left it too late, as most are out of my range now.

Only lately have I started to purchase some signatures of some of my favourites. It's a minefield here on Ebay, and certainly I would be grateful for some advice from the group in the future - I already have a couple that I'm very dubious about, and have, rightly or wrongly, passed on buying others that I would really have loved had I been sure.

Well, sorry for my somewhat grim intro. My warmest regards to the group anyway and, if I'm still here when things settle, I look forward to speaking with you. And if not, I wish you all lots of "successes" and much happiness enjoying your experiences and collections. 🙂

Hi

Hi,

I simpathise with your plight and we always say family and life comes first, so hope you sort things out soon and we see a little more from you.

You say your computer is on the blink??  Just an observation, but according to your feedback you have been actively buying on e bay for the last 12 months, on a regular basis. Just an abservation.

Hi

sorry to hear about your tough year, hopefully the future be will be a little brighter for you and will get a chance to join on here and grow your collection

Although not my main focus I do collect Carry On autographs and have been lucky enough to get quite a few TTM over the past couple of years

Hi

Oh my what an awful few months...but to be honest being part of this group does take a lot of dedication from every member to keep it going....Daz understands things happen he's not asking you to comment everyday just now and then....if everybody had the same attitude we wouldn't have this great group of "friends" that we have so posting occassionaly isn't too much to ask in my opinion things go on in all our lives but we're still here...we've had deaths/births and ailments 🙂 Well done Daz for making our group stronger and getting rid of those that dont contribute!!

Nashville here we come !

Hi

Hi,

Thanks for the good wishes.

I wasn't meaning to play a sob story or to look for special treatment. If the wish is that I be deleted, I respect that. I was just pointing out that I'm sure there are reasons, beside lack of interest, for some people not contributing regularly.

@knockknock - yes, certainly. I didn't mean to suggest that I hadn't been on the net at all; I have. My PC has been overheating for months so I just haven't been able to relax and spend any quality time on browsing the net. If you look further at my buys most have been snipes (something I hate doing, but I was on the receiving end too often) placed weekly, and if necessary, nipping onto friends machines to pay. I have however been on long enough to pick up a virus a week or two ago (probably because I haven't been able to stay on long enough to do updates without my PC overheating and cutting off), so during the night I was astonished that I was able to get on, and somehow my PC has kept going and I'm afraid to shut it off as when it goes, that is probably it for now. I can't even see the "post" button; I'm just clicking where I guess it must be.

But I really do understand the need for contributing members and if I don't fit the bill, I fully understand. I don't want to rely on excuse or explanations.

My lack of knowledge and expertise probably mean I wouldn't be much of an asset anyway.

Best,

g
