First ever IP autograph refused

I have of course sent requests TTM and never heard anything back. I have even had people walk past me because I didn't adequately engage them. However I have never had someone say no UNTIL NOW.

I was out and about in Manchester today when I spotted Anthony Crank, the former host of T4. Not a massive star but it's quantity not quality with me! I asked him to sign and he replied 'You don't want my autograph'. I now realise this was an attempt at a Jedi mind trick. I told him  enjoyed his work. He said 'I don't do any of that now'. So I enquired about what he was doing, he responded that he was a teacher. So with that I put my book away.

I have had IP autographs from Hollywood stars such as Tilda Swinton and living legends such as Sir Ian Botham. They were all happy to sign. I totally respect Anthony Crank's decision. It is his signature to give or not give whoever he wants. I just find it odd that if he had just signed he could have got on with his day. Instead he was with me a lot longer because he made a fuss instead of just signing. Fair enough if he doesn't want to be recognised but must have a level of fame because I recognised him. Shame he didn't graciously acknowledge that but I won't lose any sleep over it 😉

Shame you didn't get his autograph, but some people want to forget their past career when it's over and don't like signing.

One of my colleagues used to play football for Gillingham,Argyle and Torquay and whilst he will still sign autographs if he goes back to watch Argyle,he says it's in his past and doesn't often talk about it anymore.(Until he's had a few drinks!)

Bad luck. Literally as I was leaving work last night I saw Griff Rhys Jones run past as he was out jogging. Not the ideal opportunity to ask for an autograph. To be fair to him, he was running at a fair old pace.
