Failure x 3

Firstly, sorry I have not replied to topics for a while – the wife and I were on holiday in Tasmania. Before we went there was an event in Melbourne (Oz Comic Con) so I thought I would go along and get Patrick Stewart and Stan Lee’s signatures. Got there at 9am and queued for 45 mins to get in to the convention centre. No too bad, but when I got in it was absolute madness. I went to get autograph tokens but the line was so long it snaked all around the whole event, disappearing in to the crowd. There was so many people in there you couldn’t move. After spending 45 mins trying to find the end of the token queue I got sick of being pushed and shoved and walked out. I read later that 40 000 people turned up to a very disorganised and cramped event (first year it has run). Lots of people didn’t even get in. This was my first one of these events – will have to a great guest for me to go again.

After we got back we had to laugh at this secretarial that was waiting for me. Months ago I sent a Muppet Show card and photo to original Muppet performer Jerry Nelson via the Sesame Workshop. He doesn’t perform that much nowadays – unfortunately he has had a few health issues, so I wasn’t expecting anything for a while. Looks like this is one of the usual replies Sesame Street sends their preschool fans (are they trying to tell me something?).  I think if I was 4 I would not be too happy that the Count has forgotten my name by the first line of the letter (looks like the quality of their interns is not that great this year). Still, I am greatful for the return postage.

I hope they will still pass on my letter, card and photo to Jerry as they didn’t use anything that I sent including my SSAE. I wonder how long I sould wait before trying again. I don’t have a different address unfortunately.

thats a shame things didnt work out for you at the comic con especially when you make the effort to go and spend money etc, and unlucky with the sec too would have been easier to send everything back saying he can't sign to be honest but oh well

Real shame about the Comic Con. It's annoying when things aren't properly run. Maybe they'll get it right next year.

I love the letter from the Count but, a pity they didn't send your stuff back though. I hope you can find another address.

That is rotten luck Rob - that is a pretty grim reply re The Count - I hope you get a genuine reply later.

The comic con sounds like madness, and certainly badly managed with ticket sales. The one I went to in London was busy despite getting into it early, but I would have found your one hard going as well. Gutted you did not get Stan Lee.

Patrick Stewart is very good at ttm when appearing in theatre productions. I am sure he will be doing something sooner rather than later.

A real shame about the Comic Con...and for the reply.

No never know in this game..you might, one day, get your items back.

Bad luck Rob,you normally expect to get something at these conventions,so it sounded a bit poor how it was set up. Hopefully you will get a good reply in future from Jerry.
