My recent comic con jaunt was fun, so while looking for some books recently, spotted a couple of signed Valiant comics going cheap.
I used to have every comic published by Valiant in my old collection. They were awesome, and easily my favourite comic reads back then. For a while they were the only serious competitor to Marvel and DC.
As such, I was surprised to see the early Valiant era Magnus Robot Fighter 0 and 1 issues signed by Jim Shooter going for £2.99 each, so I jumped in as the only bidder.
Not only are they great comics in top shape and boarded in sturdy mylar sleeves, but Jim Shooter is a big name in the comic industry, so a nice addition to an autograph collection.

I may pick off a few more signed Valiants if I see them going cheap like this. Great memories.

Great find Nigel. Your comics have just reminded me - Stan Lee is coming to Melbourne in a few weeks time. Might take a comic along for him to sign. Thanks for posting

#2 - Not too sure, but I am guessing about 20 or so. When I sold the comic collection I sold a couple of hundred signed comics, plus about twenty sheets of original artwork, most signed. I still have one sheet of signed artwork from a DC Babylon 5 comic.
#7 - I hope you get to meet him - a true legend!

Amazing timing on my part, a new version of Valiant Comics has just relaunched with three new versions of old titles - X-O Manowar, Harbinger, Bloodshot. Nothing to do with autographs as all are unsigned, but I have ordered the first issues of these new comics to see what they are like.

Good buy Nigel. The 90's Valiant comics are gaining ground with the new books releasing. I picked up X-O #1 and will pick up Bloodshot when I get a chance. I loved those books as well. It was a shame that they went under, they were the best written books around. I kept my run of Bloodshot and will read it from time to time. Bloodshot was optioned so if they make a movie I may consider moving them.

I will not see my new Valiants until the July releases come out as I am having all early issues and the new ones sent together. What's the new stuff like Ian? Cannot wait to read them.
Archer & Armstrong were my favourites with Harbinger a close second.

I have only read X-O #1 & #2 so far. Good reads. #3 is where it will really pick up. Can't exactly remember the story from 20 years ago but it is very similar. I would have to read the original to see how different it is. Really excited about Bloodshot. That one releases July 11th.
I think Harbinger is out but I never really read it. A&A is slated for release later in the year. Hopefully they won't release all of the titles they had like the post-unity garbage.

I was wrong Ian, they went ahead and sent me XO 1 & 2 and Harbinger 1. Have read the two #1s and obviously seen the Bloodshot preview. Both comics are good reads, and they are clearly not rushing anything with the story arcs. Harbinger 1 is quite dark, and is a worthy reboot of the original. I have read that Ninjak is coming in XO 5. I am kind of hoping they keep things small though. By July they will have four titles, and I hope it stays this way for a while.

Have read X-O 2 now Ian - awesome! I like Cary Nord's pencils, and Robert Venditti's writing is sharp.
As Archer & Armstrong is launching, it cannot be long before Eternal Warrior follows. Likewise, Shadowman, Solar and Magnus are heavy hitting characters not seen yet.

Just read Harbinger #1. Good read as well. I hope they keep it up and don't go crazy like they did in the mid 90's. Can't wait for Bloodshot next week!

No talk of anything other than 4 comics yet Ian, although with Ninjak coming in X-O I do expect some of the other main Valiant characters to get titles in time. If they could limit it between 8 and 12 titles they would have a cohesive comic universe that would be achievable for many to collect as a whole, and not off putting for those just wanting a few titles.
