You don't need to be asked to go through the normal eBay checkout, you just do it.  Don't be fooled into clicking on links in emails as you can end up on phising sites.

They claim that there is a problem with their Paypal account.  There is one common problem: seller makes a mistak in entering the Paypal email address when they set up a listing.  The normal workaround for this is for the seller to send you a Paypal invoice for 'goods' stating the item number and title.  The buyer then logs in their Paypal account and pays using the 'pay for goods' facility as this maintains buyer protection for eligibl items.

There is no buyer protection at all for motor vehicles, which ideally should be cash on collection.
