Simple Delivery not simple

Has anyone else had problems with Simple Delivery not offering correct parcel size options? I knew my parcel was large but Simple Delivery only offers Medium max size to me. I sold my item but have refunded it as the parcel is too big for the despatch service she chose. I have tried reposting but hit the same issue- no large parcel option!

I’ve spoken to eBay customer services 3 times & they have now escalated it as can not resolve.

So I want to sell, my buyer wants to buy, but eBay can not accomodate the parcel ( which fits inside Simple Delivery parameters).
Anyone got any suggestions? (apart from arranging private despatch which I’d rather not do).  

If you're listing for a specific person you could put it in any category that allows you to opt out of Simple Delivery and so when you buy your own postage you will be able to add the tracking to ebay like we used to.

 

So change category or sub-category until you get "Oversized" at the bottom of the weight pop-up under the Package size heading, during the listing process.   Then click on Add Primary Service to buy your own postage.   It has to be done on a laptop or desktop rather than the app.

 

I have been using my phone, I don’t understand why options should be different on laptop as not everyone has one, but I will try doing it on web rather than in the app  if they don’t come back with a resolution.

When you suggest sending my item the old way, do you mean still go through
eBay and select ( for instance) DHL then its tracking will link through. Or
go to DHL separately outside eBay then add the tracking number to my item?
I am an infrequent user so am finding eBay a total nightmare now.
Just to add: the second customer service man I spoke to who could not
resolve my issue cut me off. When I phoned again ( rather they called me
back) I am sure it was him again, same voice same accent- but he didn’t
‘remember’. Too quickly he said he would escalate my problem of not being
able to repost my item with correct size ( having refunded and possibly now
lost my buyer). But I have heard nothing from eBay and there is nothing in
my account or messages to indicate he did this. As there is no item posted
I don’t see how he can?
Meanwhile the wrapped weighed measured labelled parcel is sitting in my
hallway unsold and unsent.

If you manage to opt out of Simple Delivery during the listing process you can buy the postage wherever you like.   As it will be an official opt-out you will be able to add the tracking number to ebay (which sellers cannot do if they just don't use SD without opting out).

 

 

 

 

I am currently struggling to opt out. EBay says opt out only applies to
items less than £20 and mine is £40. I will update this post when I find a
way to do it

Update: Fourth conversation with eBay agent, he said the escalated complaint is still with the I.T dept. He said to list it outside eBay direct with buyer on this occasion as eBay are unable to list it correctly on Simple Delivery.

But I’ve now heard back from my buyer & its inconveniently late for her to receive it, so she has pulled out. A total waste of money time and energy thanks to eBay’s failed Simple Delivery. 
Incase it is helpful to anyone- my parcel is 106cm by 73.5cm by 6cm so large & flat. Weighs 6.1kg. Yet Simple Delivery only offers me ‘Medium’ parcel. If sent by evri it will cist £9.24 including insurance & proof of delivery.
