Have no way of sorting this out before Christmas so am £77.77 out of pocket right on Christmas. Thanks a lot !Have contacted Paypal, bank, and e-bay and this stress has ruined our Christmas.
If not for the so-called Treasure Hunt I would NEVER have bought and paid for item located in Elves village, Greenland. My loss is directly attributable to e-bay's lack of information as to what exactly to expect in the Treasure Hunt. If I had not found 'chat room' I would still be none the wiser. I was defrauded on the first day and NO-ONE seems to care !

I work long hours so don't have much time for treasure hunting, but I really enjoyed the first few days.
I actually solved the puzzle for the mini when I got home late on day 4 of the hunt (one for us oldies who remember Crackerjack), but I didn't realise the prize had already gone until I checked out the discussion board. However, it gave me an appetite for treasure hunting. My thread was way off the mark on day five (I was trying to be far too clever).
I didn't have time to hunt on day 6 (Saturday) but logged on at around 25 past midnight to see what Sunday's prize was (a laptop). I looked at the first clue and immediately thought of Hollywood Bowl. A search for Bowl brought up the winning item - I was so excited that I nearly fell off my chair. Clicked on Buy It Now and, to my horror, realised that I wasn't signed in. The buy it now was still there even after I'd signed in, but I'd been beaten to it.
I had a go at the solving the Carols in the early hours of Monday, but soon got bored of pressing the F5 key - Even if my search was correct, I didn't know when the listing would be released.
Later in the week I heard about the blank string searches (I even tried one), but there didn't seem to be much point in looking any more. The clues got more obscure as the week went on and even if I could solve them, someone with a blank search would have beaten me to it. I've better things to do than keep pressing the F5 key for hours on end in the hope of winning an ipod, or a bike. The discussion board can be very entertaining though (Thanks, Mr and Mrs Forum_Lurker, whoever you are)
So if it's true that the "pinkies" have put the competition back onto the rails, I'm looking forward to pitting my wits against the rest of the UK. Now all I have to do is decide which prize to win.
Good hunting everyone.

Or do you only want to hear how wonderful it all is !
There are always 2 sides and I have as much right as anyone to express my views.
I still have had no official reply and have been to the bank twice today to try and sort this out.
Normally I would have been able to cancel a cheque when informed about fraud but Paypal has meant less protection for me, not more. And e-bay were not entirely scrupulous in their listings either. It appears webfairtrade1 was suspended a long time ago, yet he got my money pretty quick !

Once upon a time there were 3 cheats ebamsher or whatever his name is cheat, me cheat, and a mystery cheat who we never knew.
me cheat wrote a program and won stuff for other people, including friends and family and they are all very happy. by the time i came around to winning for myself ebay had changed their listing tactics and screwed me over.
Ebamsher or whatever his name is cheat, is the dude who let his program go public...his program sucked by the way was 2x as slow as mine, less accurate and mine was scalable to network performance, allowing my accessible 10mbit swedish connection to update his stored db 45 times / second and was viewing listings 2 seconds after they were released, so ty ebamsher or whatever his name is cheat dude. if it wasnt for this idiot me cheat would have continued winning items for other people right to the end of the competition, right now me cheat is persuing new tactics
Mystery cheat are the people who didnt come forward, we know there was a mystery cheat as me cheat knows how fast his program could grab the winning item and he also knew it always beat ebamsher or whatever his name is cheat's program hands down, but too many times did another mystery
person appear to get in very close to me cheats program by use of counter checking.
The End.

Also a wig would be lovely for xmas as i have now pulled all my hair out.
I have today been on here for over 48 hours NON STOP..not one minutes sleep, and im still trying.I tell my children the clues and ask them what they think.I have become a hermit and hardly leave the house "just incase"i miss one.
This treasure hunt has become more addictive than smoking,i feel the urge to hunt the moment my eyes open.
I just hope after all my effort i finally win..

Thought i would try and win a sellers prize so listed 5 items this morning before shopping trip, but forgot that ebay would not have been able to contact me anyway. (Great items too - all different categories etc) Oh well - back to the hunt!!
Merry Xmas to one and all.

Started surfing around on this wee competition a few days ago and really started getting into it yesterday.
I was hunched over the computer like the best of crabby folk when my poor starving children broke down the door to ask when tea was going to be. Now.....this remark, coupled with my own thoughts of impending madness kicked my brain in a whole new direction. I thought of the Mad Hatter's tea party and then searched Alice in Wonderland.
Like the best of well balanced people, I dithered excitedly over the listing before pulling myself together and clicking all the right buttons.
Won the prize, got the email, shouted at the kids and rearranged the dna of some simple foodstuffs for them in celebration!
To all elves and treasure hunt affiliates (especially out on the chatboard on occasions).....
Never in the field of conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few.
I thank you.
Z:)
