Yes.....obviously people who buy the paintings of Old Masters are buying them because of who painted them, purely as an investment.
CeeDee clearly l,likes the Pre-Raphaelites, as do I. There are many that I like, but my favourite has to be John Waterhouse. I also like the work of Kyffin Williams, a modern Welsh Landscape artist, who died just a few years ago. Wales has beautiful landscapes, and that's what I try to paint myself, but in Watercolours.......very difficult!
But my favourite picture at the moment is also by a Victorian painter....Charles August Mengin. The painting is called 'Sappho'. It's a bit risqué, but I love it and it's hanging on my wall too!
I had never heard of Your Pollyanna artist , but I checked her out and she is indeed a fabulous wildlife artist. She clearly likes cats.....big ones!
