Yes.....obviously people who buy the paintings of Old Masters are buying them because of who painted them, purely as an investment.
CeeDee clearly l,likes the Pre-Raphaelites, as do I. There are many that I like, but my favourite has to be John Waterhouse. I also like the work of Kyffin Williams, a modern Welsh Landscape artist, who died just a few years ago. Wales has beautiful landscapes, and that's what I try to paint myself, but in Watercolours.......very difficult!
But my favourite picture at the moment is also by a Victorian painter....Charles August Mengin. The painting is called 'Sappho'. It's a bit risqué, but I love it and it's hanging on my wall too!
I had never heard of Your Pollyanna artist , but I checked her out and she is indeed a fabulous wildlife artist. She clearly likes cats.....big ones!

Interesting we may not agree on a lot of things Astro but landscapes are indeed one of the things we do agree on.lol.
I'm not up on the artists but some of the Irish landscapes are very nice, I also like Constable & Farquharson ( I'm not sure if that's how you spell it! )

With reference to the comment about not finding paintings like that (the daubs of Van Gogh) on the walls of a primary school, no, perhaps they might be much better?

 

On that note, I've been watching the career of this young lad, seems that when he was at Primary school his paintings got more acclaim than those when Van Gogh was daubing?:-

What a talented young man & hopefully all his own work& not influenced by these people who say it should be done like this & that!.

You're right there, he could easily get "influenced" by those who'd try to tell him he could "Improve" if he did this, that or the other and end up spoiling his free thinking?

His parents seem to be very level headed about his future, his portrayal of the sea makes you wish you were there enjoying it. Yes indeed a great Unspoilt talent, I loved his paintings & I'm not really into sea scapes.

I only heard a snippet yesterday that another lag has been spitting at Rolf Harris in the Slammer,,,,well aint that a shame!!!!!!!!. And his sentence wont be lengthened and also hes appealing or something????. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT ROLF!!!!!!. NOT.

I'm afraid although I don't condone violence it was bound to happen at some point! Feelings run very strong on this sort of crime even in the jail environment , where even the so called celebrity is brought down to earth with a bang err! Or a punch!!.
