Was the guy coming in from the right INTENDING to get the ball?

IMHO, the answer is, NO. Watch his feet and you will see that he never even made an attempt to take the ball off the red & white striped bloke.

Red card!!

I think Adam should have had the Red because of the way he was lunging at the ball and he could see Brown coming and was determined Brown wasn't going to get the ball.

It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Live long and prosper.

wasn't even a foul Steve, never mind red card.

This only warranted a yellow.http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1862530-gif-kevin-mirallas-horror-tackle-on-luis-suarez-in-mersey...

Off to watch the Froch Groves fight.

Undicided, but for me Gerards elbow into an everton players neck was.

i wouldnt know. everyone is open to their own opinion.

NO

There are only 7 offenses a ref give a red card for -

SENDING-OFF OFFENCES

A player is sent off and shown the red card if he commits any of the following seven offences:
1. is guilty of serious foul play
2. is guilty of violent conduct
3. spits at an opponent or any other person
4. denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area)
5. denies an obvious goal-scoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player's goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick
6. uses offensive or insulting or abusive language and/or gestures
7. receives a second caution in the same match

So which of those offences did Wes Brown commit?

Wasn't foul play - got the ball perfectly - video shows any contact with Charlie Adams was minor, confirmed by him, and took place after contact with the ball - linesman didn't flag, fourth official made no comment to the ref prior to the decision.

Not seen a single professional football pundit agree it was even a foul let alone "serious".

None of the other 6 'reasons' are relevant.

I expect to see the red card rescinded very quickly.

Spot on Creeky. Just seen Wayne Rooney kick a Cardiff player,Ref saw it gave him a yellow card.Surely it should be red?

One rule for Manchester, another for Sunderland.

The referee at the Man U game was the new referee signed by United to replace the sacked Howard Webb, sacked for awarding a penalty against United last season

Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Gerrard didn't make contact with his elbow, his hip made contact. Unlike Morelis who took out Suarez with a high kick, and no intent to get the ball, and only got a yellowcard, if this had been Suarez tackling he would have got a red card,   one rule for one ..............

Good! Still lost the match thoughSmiley Sad

These incorrect decisions really annoy me...

You could play most of the game with 10 men because of an incorrect decision....

If it was proven to be wrong then the game should be replayed....
