Unfortunately, you don't have a choice. Either a phone that is at least Android 10 or use ebay within the mobile  browser.

Disgusting how we have been treated, they said IT were trying to sort it
out, maybe revert back to whatever it was before, absolute astounds me why
they changed it without any warnings whatsoever

They could of least given warnings, not everyone can afford new phones, the
whole point of having the Ebay app is for ease of use

Reall annoying.  So I have sold 1250 items here, and get treated like this? send me a free phone?

I'm having the same issue, my device says ebay is compatible but ebay keep showing me update to the latest version, but there's no option to update only option is open or cancel, I'm not the only one plenty people having the same problems,

To be fair to Samsung their latest premium phones (e.g. Galaxy S line) now come with 7 years of Android OS and security updates so better than what they used to offer.

What is the update period for their budget and mid-range models?

Looks like 5 years of OS and security updates for the current Samsung A models.

Having checked it seems it is now (as of January last year) 7 years of security updates for top-end models, 5 years for mid-range "A" models and 2 OS upgrades + 3 years of security updates for budget models. I have highlighted security updates in italics because it isn't 7 years of OS and security updates - Google provides security updates for 3 years following an Android release. It does however mean that a new mid-range Samsung device should be good for 6 to 8 years following manufacture before it starts to become obsolete which is a huge step in the right direction.

It is 7 years of OS updates for the new S25: Combined with seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates

Absolutely disgusting, my app hasnt updated in 2 years, they have done this
and made a right mess, it's caused alot of trouble, im not buying a new
phone (cannot afford to) for 1app, ridiculous!!

Ebay should of pre warned us, i dont think they envisaged the mess to be
honest, idiots, as if anyone is going to buy another phone for 1 app!!, 2
fingers up to the ebayer buyers and sellers, they will lose 1000's because
of their incompetence

Temu instead. If ebay being funny.  Facebook too.

Yes it's happening to me right now and I'm having exactly the same issues.

Your S10 should upgrade to Android 12. If it's successful you're good to go.

I have no connection with eBay or work for them, apart from being a customer. If you contact eBay, be firm and express your feelings. Please bear in mind, the people at the other end are employees, just like you and me (until I retired). Please be polite and respectful. You’re more likely to be listened to.

I've spoke to them, 4 times!!, IT are meant to be trying to sort it, not
holding my breath though

I have exactly the same problem

Yes got same problem. Really not happy I can't check my account or anything else. A bit unprofessional.

Tried multiple times to install this eBay update, but the msg keeps coming up Check the network connection' Retry.  I've uninstalled the unsupported app & tried to install from PlayStore, it gets to sign in then greys out with the msg 'This app is unsupported install the update. So back around the circle again getting nowhere. Why aren't eBay/Google doing a fix for this error?

I am using a Samsung android 9 version.

You may have missed a previous post explaining:

The latest eBay app version is no longer compatible with android 9 and below. It actually requires OS android 10 and above. If you have another device with android 10 and above you can check the most recently updated eBay app version and see if you can view images.

If you are using OS android 10 and above and still have issues with viewing images on the app please let me know. State what version you use and type of device and I'll have it looked into further by tech.

@redru-22

It should already be Android 11.
