Hi Community Managers,
I am writing this here because standard front-line phone and chat support are completely misunderstanding a severe technical bug on my account.
I am a UK-based, UK-resident private seller. I operate entirely under the VAT threshold and am NOT VAT registered. I ship domestically within the UK, and use eBay's Global Shipping Programme (GSP) for international sales, shipping directly to eBay's UK-based shipping hub.
THE GLITCH:
My account has been hit by a back-end location glitch, likely triggered by GSP data. The system has incorrectly flagged my profile data structure with an "Overseas Seller" marker. As a result, the automated system is illegally enforcing 20% Marketplace Facilitator VAT on my standard domestic UK-to-UK listings in all categories.
Front-line support keeps reading from a script about "Import VAT" because they see the automated flag and assume it is real.
I have already verified that all my account addresses are correct and tried refreshing the listings, so this is definitely a core back-end data issue. IT ran a basic check and closed the ticket, failing to see that the flag itself is the error.
Can a Community Manager please escalate this directly to the Technical/Database Tools Team to manually override and clear the incorrect overseas marker on my account profile?
Thank you.
Luke.
