The seller doesn't accept returns, however the item is covered by buyer protection. My question is what if I buy the item and upon delivery conclude that I don't like the item and want to return it

Private sellers do not have to accept remorse/change of mind returns.
If it states 'no returns' then you won't be able to return an item simply because you don't like it.
'Buyer protection' has nothing to do with returning items.

If you don't like an item you receive, you can only return it if the seller does have a Returns Accepted policy on their item, and you'd have to pay for that fully tracked return postage.
Buyer protection should not be mistaken for eBay's 30 day MBG Money Back Guarantee policy. They are 2 very different things.
Buyer protection is a mandatory, fee-based program designed to ensure secure transactions, providing 24/7 support and fraud monitoring.
eBay's MBG covers you to receive a full refund if you receive a faulty item or one not received, it will not cover you for a change of mind / do not like reason.
