Did you get an email from Royal Mail confirming the collection date? The confirmation email usually arrives as soon as the collection is booked, so it's always worth checking, to reassure yourself the booking has definitely gone through okay.

Good point. I didn’t receive a confirmation email from Royal Mail, only a confirmation statement on the eBay page telling me the collection was booked for today. This the first item I’ve sold on eBay since Simple Delivery was introduced - I prefer being able to manage the postage myself.

Oh that's a bit odd. Have you been able to rebook a collection? You might have to do it via the Royal Mail website, rather than through eBay.

I couldn’t find a way to do that, but I was able to download a QR code on eBay, which I imagine might not have been possible if the collection booking had gone through properly. I’ll take the parcel on the long journey to the post office tomorrow.

As you already have a parcel number, you can rebook a collection up to 10pm. It costs 30p, but would save you some time & trouble.

Thank you - I’ll look into that.

It isn't made clear the steps to take to book a collection. You click the blue get label button twice, first before choosing the collection date and again afterwards. I'm just making certain that is what you did?

Thank you - I’m afraid I can’t remember what I did. A message appeared afterwards saying the collection was booked for yesterday, but it didn’t take place.

I always click 'book a collection' first, before clicking 'get label'... 🙃

A couple of weeks ago, I forgot about the cut-off time of 9.00pm for booking a next day collection on eBay. It would have been very easy not to have noticed I was being offered the next available date, and not the next day.

You really do have to keep your wits about you with postage labels etc... it is so easy to miss something... 😱

Thank you. It was so much simpler when I could deal with the postage myself…..

The best category for an item I want to list is one that only has Simple Delivery, which would cost £2.72.  In a different category, which is OK but not quite as good, I can post it with Custom delivery for 91p.

So it's a dilemma as to whether it will stand more chance of selling in the best category at a higher price to take account of the high postage cost, or in a less good category at a lower price due to the cheaper postage cost.

Heaven forfend that ebay could give everything the best chance of selling by making all categories available with Custom postage if the item is under £20 ☹️
