I stopped selling after this mandate (which ebay issued just after a payment had been made to my account and which they now hold for ransom). I fully understand KYC and AML requirements (even though they're b*ll*cks (puts at risk millions of honest customers while money launderers and organised crime have the resources to avoid).
I'm a small personal seller (and ebay already have my personal bank details and my address from multiple deliveries over years - which only exists because my bank has completed KYC and AML checks). I don't trust ebay to safeguard the information and their privacy policy is vague with respect to use of ANY data provided by customers for AI purposes.
Would be happy to provide other documents, but not ones which are vulnerable for identity theft. Simply not worth it.
I don't understand why a "photo" is required (the ID specifically has to be complete and clear). How is anyone going to legitmately use that?
But since most people just go along with it, they'll get away with (undercover of it being a UK compliance requirement).
