Until this evening, all my items were BIN with the same postage policy, which included Immediate Payment. But then I wanted to create an Auction and wasn't allowed to use the postage policy because IP isn't allowed with auctions.
I tried to create a new policy but it kept saying I couldn't do that because of the live listings. I've tried to delete the policy but it won't let me do that either. So now I've had to edit the policy in order to get the Auction listed, but now it doesn't suit my BIN listings because it won't let me specify Immediate Payment. I've tried to add IP to each of my BIN listings individually but it won't let me do that either.
I want to delete the policy altogether because it's now more trouble than it's worth, but how do I delete it when it applies to Live listings. Do I really have to remove the listings in order to delete the policy?

Live listings cannot be changed from BIN to Auction.

You can only delete a Business Policy if it isn't associated with any active listings.
I don't see why you are having a problem though. There is no setting for 'Immediate Payment Required' in Postage Policies. It would be in your Payment Policy and only applies to 'Buy it Now' transactions (either Fixed Price or Auction with Buy it Now):

Just to add, if you no longer wish to use Business Policies in future then you can opt out but the existing policieswill still apply to any live listings until you edit them:
You can opt out any time by selecting the Opt out link on the Manage business policies page. Your active listings won't be affected, but if you want to make changes to payment, shipping and returns terms, you’ll need to do that individually on each listing in future. You can also opt back in to business policies at any time; however your old policies will be deleted when you opt out. You will need to create new policies and associate your listings to them using a bulk editing tool if you opt back in.'
