After 3 days the item has finally been picked up from the local post office. 
The only reasons I can think of is it was missed (put in wrong place) or Evri are short staffed.

Does simple delivery cover damage to items in transit?

In this case it’s a ceramic Tureen (Double boxed with lots of bubble wrap and boxes lined with card to reinforce box).

In the old days I would claim from Royal Mail in such an event (never happened touch wood).
