Buyer protection is incorrectly named. It doesn’t really have anything to do with protecting the buyer per se. Its more a marketplace fee that covers everything from payment processing to customer service. It should never have been brought in and all sellers should pay fees. Problem was, ebay felt Vinted breathing in its ear with their free to sell model and ebay was put under competition pressure with their clothing and accessories categories. This has now been further compounded by Vinted branching out into other categories at a fast pace.
