You can usually tell which courier is being used by the postage price. If a seller has excluded Evri, the price will be higher, ie Royal Mail only will be £3.38, compared to £2.94 with both couriers enabled. (1-2kg parcel size).
Your seller obviously couldn't haven't cared less, but hopefully most sellers would be happy to answer a query about postage. If you were keen to buy an item, but only wanted it posted by Royal Mail, you could ask if the seller would be willing to temporarily exclude Evri. It is easy enough to switch the option off & on again.
Obviously, none of this is ideal, and it would be much easier to be able to see at a glance what courier is being used - although some sellers would list with Royal Mail postage, but actually send by another courier... so if you want to be on the safe side, it's best to check with the seller before buying.

Just so you are aware - not every response on this thread is related to things you have posted. You need to look at who someone is responding to (though admittedly - if you are getting hte notification emails - it does look like they are responses to you )

Yes but private sellers sell unique items and conditions stuff you can't find in shops anymore. We don't give a ****** about refund, we want the item delivered. I still didn't find the replacement for the item Evri stole, should I used someone else, I would have the item here with me now, so why bother to use them? I refuse postage from Evri myself as well. I turned it off not all the sellers do that.

"Under Simple Delivery, unless a seller actively de-selects Evri, then ebay do more-or-less choose the courier.
If the buyer picks 'standard' delivery it will (95% of the time) be Evri. If the buyer picks 'express' delivery it will usually be R.M 24.
( the few % of the time when 'standard' is R.M will probably be when the buyer is in the bits of Britain that are 'Highlands and Islands' and Evri won't deliver there because it's not profitable enough.)"
And under S.D. if the parcel is dispatched but not delivered, ebay do give the refund, not the seller. This is because ebay, having chosen the courier, are the courier's customer. Therefore they are the only ones with a delivery *contract*, so they are the only ones who can get a refund/give a refund....
'Arriving damaged in the post' under S.D. is also supposed to be covered by ebay (for the same delivery contract reasons) but is a bit more involved as it includes packaging which is not under the control of ebay *or* the courier.
So the seller COULD have chosen NOT to use eBay but didn't, and again it is down to eBay's greed that this complicated state of affairs has been allowed to happen, it was never like this before in over 20yrs of eBay.
I live in East Anglia (not the highlands & islands) and because I complained about items being dumped on my front doorstep in the rain and in full view of passing traffic etc and the courier does not ring the doorbell and I am in waiting etc the local "courier?" when asked why he does not deliver according to EVRI policy says "we don't do that any more, and because you are complaining I will no longer deliver to you! END OF!
Complaints to local depot has no response, that is why I do NOT get home deliveries!

I just broke all my records, I had to make a purchase here, and sold an item few time later, I havea combo of troubles on both due to simple delivery... never more. It was my time of trial on Ebay to see if i can still manage the bare minimum, I am having more stress in the last 3 months, purchases or sales, since November when I was enrolled by force in the system then all the 15+ years I have been here...
Seller and me calling customer service to have a solution, we ended up doing private exchange of money, why to use and pay Ebay if we have to make bank transfer with no protection at all... and last joke, Ebay wanted to deal my postage, fine, they asked me money to arrange the collection of the big parcel.......... excuse me?? You want to take the responsability and job to deliver, you have to do it properly, what a joke, and they owm me money, I have to go legal with them as well... I wasn't paid for packaging since item is second hand so I don't have the original packaging and they even asked me collection money. It is the last drop and joke. I am buying all the stuff i saw in the months before because I saw it before this mess and then nomore, days and wastes gone and no solutions. Let me have buyer's money for posting and packaging like before and the postage process can be really simple, find another way to make profit, I already complained, it will be useless, but by the end of the year Ebay will be a desert. Everytime we buy or sell it is an extreimely overcomplex procedures and nobody likes it, they are killing itself, and it is suicide, if they are happy like this, be my guest, I can do this stuff elsewhere, and if they lose popularity i have more chance to find the private sellers items elsewhere then here.

I really don’t think eBay is for you anymore. I’d just cut your losses now.

For that particular poster? I wouldn’t want to make an assumption on what they would want.

Yeah, i think is more like Ebay is not suitable anymore to his users, since we have always been here and encountering multiple problems that we never had before. I am on triple now, there a glitch in the system and i couldn't book the collection, or whatever issue they have with this changes, I have to post it tomorrow or buyer cancel it and he bought it by klarna so he can't do it again. 2 transactions 3 issues, what a joke!

It is a real shame that those who have been very happy buying & selling on eBay for many years are now finding it too complicated/stressful. eBay has been, for many of us, the only viable opportunity to sell a wide variety of items, all in the same place. For those without transport, or disabled, or with any combination of difficulties, alternatives such as car boot selling are impractical, or impossible.
eBay has become much less flexible since Simple Delivery was introduced - and this has undoubtedly had an impact on those that were previously able to post items without any problems or stress. Unfortunately, eBay is a different place now, and if we don't like it, or are having problems, the response will basically be 'tough cheddar'... 🧀

I agree with your interpretation, but it remains anathema to me. The rule that I grew up in business with was "make it easy for your customers to do business with you and they'll keep coming back for more, and tell all their friends". Regrettably ebay have done the opposite by making it harder and harder, whether it's due to the straitjacket they've strapped around sellers or the absurd search results or any number of other ways in which ebay have made it harder either to buy or sell. I don't see ebay as anything other than a voracious behemoth now, and the more I see what avarice does to people who are already fabulously wealthy, the less inclined I am to feed the greed machine.

You are right, I used to bring my transactions here, even from other places, because it was easy and simple, now we are running elsewhere. We have to wait it fails and somebody else buy it and maybe fix everything they are currently doing to kill it.
