I thought it was odd as well, because I thought 99p was the lowest start price allowed by ebay, but I did say I'd had a "very quick look" !

It only sold a few days ago and no FB left yet, but viewing the Sold page for the item Best Offer was accepted including £1.72 BPF meaning that the accepted offer was for £26.  (Near the mid-point of the usual price range)

Must admit that I don't understand why the Sold results page shows £0.08p in green as the sale price.  (A glitch?).

But I don't think that negates my argument.  It's still the case that 6 of 9 auctions only got 1 bid.  Most of them were sold by private sellers and most still sold for less than than the same item sold for as BIN.   Ebay should stop giving private sellers out-of-date and misleading advice that leads to them cancelling sales.

As the auctioneer, if it is going to advise them at all,  it should advise them properly and give an accurate assessment of what will vey likely happen if they accept ebay's advice and start the auction at a low price.  They will likely only get a low price at the auction's finish.
