Because I am a private seller. I am not VAT registered, not a member of
any trade association etc. I also do report my income from EBAY to HMRC
in line with their advice.

I think legally in the UK is there is no difference, trading laws still
apply, and you have to pay tax

If however these ridiculous new polices continue I will investigate if I
am allowed to convert to being a business seller.
