Yup, I absolutely hate it and my account was only switched over to compulsory SD two days ago.
I was charged for a label that I didn't even create because a buyer purchased two of my items so naturally I wanted to post them together. When I added tracking details for the second item (and that was a faf as there's nowhere to do this now. I had to have CS send me a link) a charge for the label was placed on my account. I've been told it will be cancelled and refunded automatically so I will be keeping a close eye on it!
All of my active listings were switched to SD and a buyer from Sweden was unable to check out when he purchased one of those. I had to cancel the item and create a new listing.
The same item had a small parcel label created when it was actually a medium parcel. Fortunately the lady at the Post Office let it go. She acknowleged the many issues with this ridiculous system from Ebay.
It's totally inflexible and it's definitely not working correctly.
I can easily use Facebook Marketplace instead and I really don't need the hassle so I'm afraid unless something changes then this is what I will do.

"I've been told it will be cancelled and refunded automatically so I will be keeping a close eye on it!"
They told me the same lie nearly 4 weeks ago. Nothing. I cba to chase it up. I no longer use their shoddy platform to sell.

If it's Seller pays postage, the seller needs to request the refund of an unused SD label.
If it's Buyer pays postage, the buyer should be refunded automatically after 30 days.

Ebay have officially lost the plot SD really is awful. While i can still opt in the custom delivery on my items on private account, ebay then changes them once the item goes live to SD. Buyers are unable to combine shipping and i have all sorts of couriers selected that i cannot use for simple reasons such as being local to me or have a bd record of losing parcels.
Absolute pile of BS , wake up ebay

Many thanks for this. You'd have thought Customer Services would have known this and told me wouldn't you?
Any way, I have submitted the refund request which also includes a comments section at the end to allow you to air your views of Simple Delivery which I have done of course.

SD only has two couriers - and you can turn one (either) of them off, if you like. ("There may be exceptions where preferred couriers are unavailable due to location or package size.")

For next time though, the policy is you use send each order separately;
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sellercentre/postage/simple-delivery
If your buyer has purchased more than one item from you in a single transaction, you’ll receive one prepaid label for posting your items to them. You can only use the label provided once.
If your buyer has purchased items from you in different transactions, you’ll receive separate postage labels to post each of the items.

Not sure if she checked both items out together or not but this is the point, the whole system is totally inflexible. I paid for the label(s), not the buyer so I do expect a refund.
If I do decide to stay with Ebay then I will have the buyer pay for postage on all listings to save having any further fights.
In any case, one item here was simple delivery and the other wasn't as I was able to choose between simple and custom until two days ago so I had a mixture of both the old and the new.

i agree , its not fit for purpose, they get it wrong all the time. They have now stopped the seller choosing a more appropriate delivery service. I am seriously now considering stopping ebay to sell. They are forcing sellers on this track. I wont send via ebay I will use the post office.
they are impossible to talk to. I think we should complain to the ombudsman as its unfair practice.
sadly they are going the way of amazon.

that is absolutely ridiculous, they really are letting the sellers and the buyers down. The rot has set in.
I am going to try other methods of selling.

Had a similar issue - my SD forced listing sold and a label fee was charged automatically, even though I didn't require it (sold item was being posted along with another non-SD item to the same buyer). After 1hr 30m I was eventually pointed towards a 'Request a refund for Simple Delivery' page where it states a refund will take up to 14 days!!!
Another way for them to keep your money in their account earning them interest I guess is the thinking. 🤔 The same as many others, my sales have fallen through the floor after their daft Seller Protection Fee .. and this is just driving home the nail in the coffin.

I just sold something and two hours later, having worked it all out, I now have to drive to the Evri drop off instead of my usual walk to the Post Office. It was a long standing listing and I was not even aware it had changed to the SD. It's far from simple. I think I could easily leave Ebay as a selling platform.

You can turn off Evri for future items here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf/simpledelivery
"There may be exceptions where preferred couriers are unavailable due to location or package size"
Turning off either courier results in higher postal prices - in most postage rate bands.

I agree with what you are selling whole heartedly. I sell on ebay with the sole purpose to buy from other sellers. The simple delivery options don't work for me as I don't use a smart phone nor a printer. If I can't sell I can't buy, postage costs and this stupid 75p buyer protection (despite reading the blurb I have no idea what protections you get above and beyond the old ones) make auctioning small items hard and expensice ones almost impossible -

You could use Evri Simple Delivery without a smart phone, printer or (digital camera).

I've now gone free postage, no more combined shipping.. was the easiest way, does however create a longer queue in the post office with three items for one buyer all being sent seperately
