My returns from eBay have been pretty dreadful over the last couple of months, after I had a decent end to 2024.
Although I think there has been a little over-reaction to some of eBay's recent pretty awful changes, it is undeniable that they will have had an effect on sales, as much because of the haphazard, amateurish manner of their imposition as because of the changes themselves.
I'm hoping it will settle down after the inevitable (and obvious) teething problems. Many who have "left" will return when they find out the grass isn't always greener, and there are always new buyers and sellers, who don't know what it was like "in the good old days".
Having said that, other platforms have not been giving me good results either, although the drop-off has generally been less than on eBay. A lot of posters on here have forgotten we are in the middle of a genuine "cost of living crisis". My monthly direct debits for the next year will be around £50 more than last year, with £40 of that hitting on the first of the month. Forgetting eBay for a moment, people just don't have any spare cash at the moment.
