Hi Guys

I've been having a sort out of my personal book collection as I'm moving to a smaller place and found a book which is (very much to my surprise) a bit of a rarity.

It's Metropolis by Thea von Harbou (The Readers Library Copyright Edition) with an Aubrey Hammond dust jacket (which is where the value is)

There are two copies on offer via bookfinder at about $1850 each and the reprint is on offer at $950.

The book is in similar condition to the ones listed in good to very good condition a nice clean well bound copy but the dust jacket is in poorer condition. Unfortunately it has a 5cm tear to the top of the front cover and chipping and a small amount of loss to the top/bottom of spine and a small amount of loss to the corners.

Could anyone hazard a guess as to how much the dust jacket damage reduces its value and what would your starting price on Ebay be? or would you think it's better taking it to a specialist auction house.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Jeff
