However it may be different with collectors of the Harry Potter books they seem to like to collect the more obscure editions as well as the true first editions, so there may be some value in your book. The only way to tell would be to list it and find out.

It's quite possible that no one will want it, but its only 10p to list so worth a punt.

An Apology for Socrates and Negotium Posterorum, by Sir John Eliot, edited by Grosart, limited to 100 copies. (Two vols). 1881.
I can find plenty out about Sir John and the writing of the book, and about Grosart, but the only copies I can track down (apart from mine) are firmly attached to libraries. Possible fly in ointment: the space in mine for copy number has been left blank, in spite of the assurances that the edition has been "rigidly limited" to 100 and "Proofs and waste sheets have been destroyed". Hum. So mine is number 101? Please help (and yes call me Duck if you like).

Be prepared for an education. I like books and have a working knowledge, but these guys eat, sleep and breathe the subject.

This is my forst time on the UK board though I have been buying and selling on the Aussie board for a little while.
Anyway I have a question that I hope someone may be able to help me with. I have tried Googling and haven't come up with any results so far. A couple of weeks ago I bought a magazine in a second hand bookshop. Its called 'The Violet Magazine', Romantic stories for the long evenings. The price is 7d. I has the month of October on it but no year. Judging by the sketches of the people throughout the magazine I would estimate that it was published sometime in the 1930s. All of the advertising relates to English products and addresses.
If it would help I could scan and include a couple of pics here.
Thank you in advance for any assistance in pointing me in the right direction. I'd like to find out a bit more about the publication.

So far I have found ... The Violet Magazine.
Scroll down to Volume 5. Harmsworth/Amalgamated Press.
Not much help, I'm afraid, but I'll carry on looking.

If you want to try and find a value for it you will probably have to contact a dealer who specialises in magazines.
I did a search on, “Girls’ Friend Library.”, but it didn't help.
