Had the royal mail ask me for a collection today. Gave me a collection notice but I have not sold anything. It had collection reference too. Is it a scam or simple mistake?

Doubt it's a scam cannot see where the benefit here would be to a ' potential scammer' though don't necessarily answer the door if there's a a RM collection calling, tell them through a closed door they have the wrong address.
No harm being very careful nowadays, but hopefully, just a simple mistake.

Thanks for the reply, yes can't see how it would work, just that the post
lady said seems to be quite a few scams she's heard of from others.
Thanks again

Always wise to be careful don't open that door should any ' RM collection' person appear, if they're the real thing they won't mind being told they have the wrong address, by you telling them this, through a closed door.
Thankfully, there are more good peeps in this world than bad, so this more than likely, is a simple mistake.

Just a thought but have you bought anything recently?
I have had the details of a collection arranged by the seller emailed to me on a couple of occasions in the past.

Usually that would trigger a "we tried to collect your item but it was available to collect" email, there are quite a few bugs in the collection system and around here because we are in a not spot and they use vodafone on the PDA's it causes problems.
