I have my preferences set to Royal Mail only (link here) and with Simple Delivery I can book a collection for free and get a label brought by postie. Just sent a heavy medium parcel today. The only downside is that eBay have an earlier cut off for booking a collection for the next day.
I've had one automated combined postage, which meant the buyer paid less than the 2 postages put together, but think I could still have got into large letter rather than the small parcel eBay chose.
I like that I can get a free collection...

well you were able to reset the listings to not be simple delivery, which I haven't managed yet! All I did was change to Royal Mail only via the link (Evri drop off is too far away), and eventually eBay built in collect and bring label, which is very useful. It's still the combined postage - though not many people buy 2 or more items from me - that isn't very satisfactory.

If I was sending something fragile I would photograph the box or whatever with evidence of good packaging. It's probably a good idea with things not sold through eBay too!
With lost SD eBay deals with it all and refunds customer.
just been reading the list of things you can't send SD which includes nail varnish and valuables including fine jewellery incl gold silver etc. If you list nail varnish simple delivery not available, but in fine jewellery it is...

evri gets hold of them then it is lights out.
and valued items they do not give the buyers a choice. No cover only lost
.that is why good packing is needed for safe travel through the post
and they do not do next day labels. Everything about this SD is not for
the buyers sellers it is all about money making
I have just about had it with eBay after over 18 yrs .and since February
lots of my great sellers who have been on eBay so long have left. EBay
says nothing just if you can not follow the terms walk. What is that all
about.
So many of us have been with eBay since they were only setting off the eBay
journey in a bedroom .and we were there bread and butter .sold what we
could purchased what we could for what .
EBay did not make eBay all of us members have business and private and the
super buyers .who now have to pay seller protection
EBay did that take care of all of us but now it is not free such a shame
I spoke with eBay America and they said we do not do all this and what the
damm is eBay uk doing so it is not eBay worldwide it is the uk eBay
only .so if they can do all that in America why are they treating us like
this

we have a volcano sitting in the middle of the uk who eats money .and of
course Rachel from accounts will not close it.
Everyone would prosper instead of the few. .she is going to destroy us all
in November old lame business or little pensioners like me .she is playing
games that we will not win .and then we have the eBay cartel who are taking
great pride to run this for money only

Have to agree, this is just another way for them to make money. The blanket categories of postage that Ebay uses i.e if a large letter it is the most expensive large letter. I've sold a large number of slim books/magazines using the cheaper 500g large letter rate. The imposition of simple delivery plus the alleged "buyer protection fee' means that I can no longer compete with business sellers.

It's the most expensive large letter because it is tracked & it is the same price tracked for all weights, that's RM. I've used tracked even for cheap things during December. And with the tracked purchase you can go to 1kg large letter - which is useful. The best thing about SD is free collection and label via Royal Mail and eBay dealing with lost items. The worst thing is probably the automatic combined postage. Recently when listing smaller items, e.g cards, even large letter size, I have been offered the custom postage option, so perhaps eBay are getting better at listening.

Hi there, thanks for this, but doesn't seem to work on smart phone. Is this hack for laptops.
So not happy with simple delivery, inflexible and doesn't allow the seller to cover costs for packaging, like envelopes, bubble wrap etc and costs associated with transporting for drop-off. I feel like leaving eBay and am looking into other options. Not only is it unfair it's complicated and not transparent like before.
Thanks for your contribution

But I guess you need to stay in the house until item is collected. Unless they specify a time slot??
Thanks for your input. This is all very helpful, been an private eBay seller for awhile but not been keeping up. Just wondering why nothing was selling!!

RM only charge £2.20 500g large letter rate but would be forced to use SD for slimmer books

Yes I looked at cameras to buy but I'm afraid the seller will use evri rather than RM.

Well i've just gone to list some CDs and magazines and simple delivery is now the only option at the cost of £2.72. Small A5 magazines I usually list at £3 and CDs often at £5, but that makes it unworkable now.
In the last 90 days I have sold 142 items that were sent by custom delivery which isn't an option now, so I shall not be listing any more here.
I was happy to use simple delivery for all items over £15 (whatever the size) and all larger items (LPs, Box Sets etc) and have found it is not a problem.
My sales have been buoyant and things were running smoothly, but now it looks like I need to find another sales outlet, and if I find one for the smaller items, then I will sell everything there instead.
Great business move there eBay!!!!

a choice I use royal mail and it is a few pence more but if evri is the
only choice I am going loads of my friends all ready have .no point in
staying and I am tired of fighting eBay .
If I do not except new rules then leave .you can only call or bluff so many
times . I need a trusted courier for my size of boxes and weight but have
hope now as parcel force and Royal Mail are one but still eBay can over
ride me by saying buyer wants this when I know that is not true .just evri
never for my beloved collectibles

"There is still hope when you list there is a little box which you can make
a choice I use royal mail and it is a few pence more"
I list virtually every day as I need to sell a lifetimes worth of stuff as I want / need to move to a bungalow due to health issues. It has all changed today. There are no options for small items other than the up to 1kg at £2.72, and that is with Royal Mail.
Just signing up with V*nted as they now sell magazines. Not sure how good the site is, but only one way to find out i guess.......
