Rudolf Hess (member of the Nazi Pary in 1930's Germany, appointed as deputy to Adolf Hitler in 1933. His position as Hitler's deputy ended in 1941 when he flew to Scotland to try and negotiate a peace settlement with the United Kingdom and was subsequently taken prisoner and held in captivity in the United Kingdom until the end of the war. After the end of the war he stood trial in Germany at the Nuremberg Trials, was found guilty of crimes against peace and was transferred to Spandau Prison, where he served a life sentence. He died on 17th August 1987.)
