I think the prizes should be auctioned on here and the proceeds then doubled by ebay and given to the tsunami appeal.
enough said !!!!!!!!!!!!!

COME ON PEOPLE, THERE IS ONLY ONE CHARITY TO HELP AT THE MOMENT, SELL THEM ON SPECIAL AUCTIONS ON EBAY A.S.A.P.
TSUNAMI RELIEF IS SO SO MUCH IN NEED, THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM THAT WILL GO AWAY, MILLIONS MORE PEOPLE WILL DIE, IT WILL TAKE DECADES FOR THEM TO EVEN CONTEMPLATE WHAT HAS HAPPENED NEVER MIND START TO LIVE THEIR LIVES AGAIN, PLEASE PLEASE HELP..........

Think the idea of a raffle was a good one, as at least most people would be able to afford the price of a ticket, probably bringing more money than the items values. Then money raised could go to the Tsunami appeal, as this has touched so many people worldwide, and at a time of year when there should be joy in the world, and not sadness.

So a raffle would be a very good idea because it would give everyone a fair chance of winning.

Do i then presume that
(a) a special listing will be put on the boards

(b) you are limited to buying ONE ticket at a set price

(c) the price set WILL be one affordable to everyone

(d) the raffle will only be avaible to UK buyers (as per the original hunt)

(e) ebay will pay postage and packing of the item (as per the original hunt

(f) the monies raised will be given to the charity/charities nominated by Ebay

(g) We will abide by the decision of ebay as to which charity/charities benefit from the monies

Each cause is a deserving cause and it is a shame that most of them have to rely on public donations and business sponsorships. We must also remember that because there are so many out there it is not a good idea to be arguing over who gets what.

Quick footnote to elves and their honourable Queen, when will we expect to hear your decision regarding this situation?

Your humble servant, Foodog2004:-x;-)?:|

I think a raffle is an excellent idea and is almost certain to raise more money than the value of each item. It would also save the charity from having to do exactly that at their expense.

Elves (pinks) you have a captive audience who seem more than willing to purchase tickets - how about it?

personally i thuink that the tsunami relief is getitng soo much money atm that they wud benefit more by next years unfound prizes being donated.

yes they needa lot atm, but wat about next year and the yea after when te world forgets?

and because everyone is giving to the tsumai aid atm the smaller charities are going to loose out possibly as everyone switches their donations to the tsunami.
cat 🙂

plus ebay already donated 10million to the tsunami fund.
cat 🙂

I reckon you should raffle the prizes off and split the money raised between a few charities, that way you help a lot more people. The raffle money can either be paid from our paypal accounts or via the normal invoice system. Well done on the Hunt, i for one loved it!

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, screaming WOW WHAT A RIDE!

RSPCA - help the little animals

I strongly agree with mrs forum lurker

hi i am raising £10.000 for a much needed new mini bus for a local school for children with severe special needs, they are such gorgeous kids and would really benifit from a new bus. Watergate school is a registered charity.

I think Multiple Sclerosis research is a good cause.
Many people's lives are affected with this disease.

As previously stated Ebay has donated to the disaster fund, it is/was a treasure hunt for GB - surely GB charities should benefit from the unsolved items.......

If the prizes are raffled or auctioned (as opposed to eBay's stated intent to donate the prizes themselves) I would want to know beforehand which charity the money was going to. There are numerous charities (some mentioned on here) that I will not support because they fund vivisection. This is something that I feel very strongly about so if I didn't know up front I wouldn't buy a ticket/put in a bid just in case.

Purple penny, Do I know you?

And which charities are these?

In view of world events...I think they should be sold on Ebay and the money put into the Tsunami disaster fund.

Any descisions yet pinks?
Never had a siggy anyway!

I think - for what it's worth - that any unclaimed prizes etc should be sold, raffled - whichever would make the most money- and the proceeds split 50/50 between the DEC Tsunami appeal and a british charity. THE tsunami is a disaster beyond all comprehension and there are many millions of people who need all the help they can get but I am also aware that due to many people giving to the DEC appeal they will not be giving as much to charities "at home" and therefore these charities will lose out - which is not fair when they depend on a level of income to keep going. So 50/50 seems a fair solution to me? What do others think?

I stand corrected if I am wrong. Others know far more than me but I do try to be helpful!
If it belongs to them - it is theirs. If it belongs in another part of the room - it belongs there. If they are going out, they're going somewhere! If they pay for an in item it is paid for but only after they bid on it in the first place!

Simon Hawking - do you mean in real life or from somewhere else in cyberspace? There are numerous places that you could have met me in cyberspace as I always use the same ID (sometimes with capitals, sometimes with no space - depends on the forum/list/group ID rules). Do you reenact? Had a hyper thyroid cat? PCA? Babblings?

RE : TSUNAMI DISASTER AND PEOPLES VIEWS SO FAR

I would like to point out that I hope most people realise that this event is different from most third world country appeals. Unlike a lot of them where the people are starving and dying because of their own warring factions, lack of own governmental help, or other self inflicted problems (not perhaps personally but governmental and tribal), this was a horrific "hand of God" disaster. It has affected peoples worldwide in almost every country. Many people lost their lives, many were injured. Families were broken up, children orphaned etc and this didnt just happen to the inhabitants of the islands concerned. IT HAPPENED TO TOURISTS AND THEIR FAMILIES as well!! Remember the youngest British victim was just 59 days old! A life just beginning snubbed out so quickly. I have had to deal with tragedy and death myself over the past two years (my ex-husband died last year aged 36 years, my best friend died in a house fire in her early thirties - in both cases they had children who have had to come to terms with their loss) but NOTHING can compare to the grief and hurt caused over there. Please find it in yourself to be charitable, this is an issue much closer to home than you realise.
Sorry to sound as though I am preaching to you, far from it. I just feel that perhaps certain people do not have this issue in quite the right perspective.

Sorry Purple*Penney, thought you were someone I used to work with who uses the online name purplepen.

You're in Yorkshire, so can't be.
