Background: eBay was founded in September 1995, with the first auction on Labor Day. Pierre Omidyar started the idea when he was looking for people to trade PEZ candy dispensers with throughout the country. He created eBay to resemble an auction like-trading format, so that buyers could follow their bids through out the process. He also allowed sellers to upload pictures of their items, and he created an online community with chat rooms for users to interact and discuss items and hobbies.
