1) As i'm in the throes of setting up a website I need my photos of clothing to have that " floating" look that big websites have ( eg debenhams/ asos) where there's no background or mannequin showing.
i've read that V bright lighting on a white background would acheive this. I've got a 2x 500w halogen lamps on a tripod, but they still seem to give off a yellow glow...i need pure white light. the photographic accessories are hugely expensive : £100's of pounds for a single light. does anyone know what i could use ( i was thinking halogen??) that's reasonably priced, so i can buy multiple lights, that are white, not yellow tinged?
2) taking photos of pure black clothes. discuss ! :_| even with the halogen lights & 3x 100w bayonet bulbs the definition is not good. I have to fiddle round with overexposure & contrast once the piccys are on my laptop.
i'm only using a panasonic lumix by the way....maybe that's not helping, for a start ?
thank you in advance ! :-x

No good at giving advice on clothing photography not really my thing. As far as the lighting is concerned it may well be worth buting some good flash lights, I bought some recently from China (on Ebay) and they really have done the job, they did cost a few hundred quid though.
Black is always going to be tricky I am afraid, I think you will have to work out by trial and error to see whats best, but try not to lay black items flat try and give them some depth if possible.
As far as the camera is concerned you would get better result with a DSLR but it depends on how much you really want to spend, BTW an easy way of doing a white background is just to use a large flat bed sheet and hang it up
