well have been to look at the nikon d90 today and compared it to another couple of makes of similar spec/ price and i think its the one I will go for. It feels just right and comfortable to hold and the logic behind it is not too far removed from my current camera.
just need to carrying on saving the pennies now but hopefully it won't be too long:-D

Hi towery probably a little of each tbh
If its the ones I think you mean the birds feathers were quite coppery, I also had to shoot slighty under exposure with a low flash as we had trouble getting the right balance (hence, partly, to wanting to get full SLR now) but overall I would say the colours etc were pretty much bang on to the real colours you would see by the naked eye.
The weather was good but changeable at times

Stu - I've got a canon Powershot A550. Once Mary showed me how to switch it on and put it on auto I have managed to take some, what I think, are pretty ok piccies. (As you can tell am not in Mary's league). I've had it for 2 years now so my 9 year old feels I'm ready to be taught what some of the other "buttons" are for! :^O
Whish Sony would you suggest then? I would want it to be as close to the spec of the D90, I am not bothered about video functions, would prefer the money to go into still photography IYKWIM

I have compared the nikon and canons and didn't like the feel of the canon at all, will have another pop down to the local shop and look at the ones you have mentioned, thanks again for that:-)

Just been having a nossy at the pentax and it does look good with plenty of lense choice, would you say the results were fairly close to your nikon (better or worse) ??

Thats really interesting in that the results are comparable, will definately give it a go then. I know what you mean about the camera and how you use it and have been happy with results of my lower spec camera, I agree that it would be nice to be able try before you buy but unfortunately many seem resisitant to let you have a proper play

I am still using my panasonic FZ50 and will be keeping it as I really like the camera and it has served me well over the last year or so. I have my little Fuji compact 3.2mp camera which I have started using a bit more again as its a brill point n shoot.
