Polly - I am quite lucky as I speak french and german and have enough Italian to get by. I've always tended to stick to countries where I speak the lingo just incase there is some type of medical emergency etc. I know my friend would be there and obviously speaks the lingo but I'm just the biggest wimp known to man and spend all my time putting myself off by thinking of every possible thing that could go wrong.
