Why would that be so?  DNA is fundamentally very simple. It's just strands of four repeating A,G,C and T nucleotides. These can be quickly detected using modern techniques. And efficiently recorded in full description, on an inexpensive, 4-gigabyte computer HD.

 

So the cost really doesn't really come into it.  Unless, it's to make people pay more money than they need to?
