Apart from lying out in State, it will be one.    Military Guard of Honour, Military Bands , streets lined by Service personnel, Gun carriage, Flag draped coffin, Procession to St Pauls , with representatives of not only Our State, but from all over the World.       Nice to see our MPs all picked up £3000 each to turn up at Parliament yesterday

As someone commented in the Guardian:

"Thatcher's funeral is, in all but name, a state funeral. 'In all but name' is significant. It is not called a 'state funeral' because parliament has not been called on to vote for it.

Why? Because such a vote would have been lost.

Parliament would never have voted to give the most divisive prime minister of the 20th century a state funeral.

Since it is not a state funeral military honours are a constitutional outrage. Thatcher was not royal.

Military honours are a royal privilege apart from in the specific case of state funerals

. Buckingham Palace has, quite rightly, complained about this.

The whole charade is a party political circus and as such it is absolutely right and proper that people should protest loudly. Thatcher was and is thoroughly hated by millions of British citizens. That fact should be registered clearly on Wednesday"
