TBH, the truth about Maggies term in office is probably somewhere between the extreme veiws.

Yes, she did some things that benefits society, and affected many people. She also did some stuff that was maybe not so well thought out.

She was however the person that will be blamed by some sections of society for destroying many industried, mining included.  These are the mines that saw more closures and redundancies under Harold Wilson than it ever did under Thatcher.  The main reason the mines closed was Scargill.

The changes in the industrial world had more effect on industry than Thatcher did.

Whoever had been in power during this time would have over seen the decline of the heavy industries.

The first negative thing that she was accused of was stopping free school milk, most will remember the rhyme Maggies Thatcher, Milk snatcher. - but who's budget was that measure introduced under?
