As a psychotherapist I have observed that a major part of the damage of sexual abuse is the way the abused feels his/herself cut off from the rest of the family and society. I don't believe that there are victims who are not harmed in some way. Even if it is just minor damage to self esteem. I have also seen families break up because of the underlying damage done so that claim is definitely not bunkum.
