I'm back. The cat had to stay at the vets for a blood test and had anti-biotics. It might be his kidneys, so fingers crossed if it can be sorted. If it's an infection he might be ok again, but if they are failing it's obviously going to be the end and I will have to let him put to sleep. I'm not one for letting a pet struggle on just for my sake. If he can't have a quality life there is no point.

He deteriorated pretty fast, so I wonder if he was poisoned or ate something bad.

The vet will give me a ring after 1 o'clock, so we'll see.
