Tonight's election - 3 declared and shocked already!

Not wanting to start a debate about the election, but I think this will be an interesting night.

Blyth Valley has been won by the Conserviatives.

I was too young to vote in 1974, but it has been an interesting seat for many years - though not for the Conservatives - eveyone knew the then Labour MP Eddie Milne - by which time he was an independent - he won the first election that year but lost the secod - by less than 100 votes - 40,000 votes for labour in total and under 7000 for the Conservatives.

And the Conservatives stayed about that figure until 2017 - and today a win!  Mainly a  mining town which has been a very depressed and ignored place for many many years -  and Ronnie Campbell was the Labour MP there from 1987 until this year - a miner and a vocal remainer.- and now Blyth has a Tory MP.

An interesting snippet today for most - seats of course change sides - but knowing the place - and always voting Tory when I lived there - I am gobsmacked.

An interesting night!
