I think HS2has it’s merits not the least of which is freeing up capacity for commuters, however in my opinion it could follow the route of our motorways cantilevered above them, I know it would create disruption in the early stages of construction however it would not require the removal of large tracts of green belt or compulsory purchase of land!
I think that’s what Brunel would have done!
