I gave up trying to correct other peoples' speech long ago. Would of, could of, should of still grate when I hear them or see them written but is it really so bad? They have only come about through contractions in everyday speech. We rarely say would have, we generally say would've and initially the confusion must have come from the fact that would of is actually pronounced would ov. So in general I've let that one go.
