What is accountability and who decides what is and is not correct? The reason you employ professionals is for know how on a particular subject, we elect our representatives in theory because we trust them however in practice we vote for the party not the person. They are then selected for a specific brief based upon what? Their skillbase? Or their length of service to the party? You don't need any qualifications other than to be a reasonable orator (even that is questionable) and yet we want them to take and make responsible decisions based upon what exactly?
There are some great politicians out there and there are some horrid ones but that is subjective and taking into account personal prejudice and circumstance they are on a hiding to nothing so why would anyone wish to go into public service. Ask yourself whether you could take the scrutiny and daily calling out on everything you do and the tell me you could do a better job than your local MP? If the answer is yes then perhaps you should put yourself up for election, if no what can we do to ensure that the right people are elected.
