Al,

I never really realised how much it takes to make these kind of things until my daughter started at Warner Brothers where she is an apprentice Graphic designer. Even something that looks like a simple 2D picture to our eyes takes ages to put together with all kinds of special effects. We see the end product, but not the time and work that goes into it. When my daughter explains it all my eyes glaze over. Cat LOL

She has been there a year now and has another 6 months to go. She was very lucky that they extended her apprenticeship. She does want to spread her wings a bit after that though and would love to get her foot in the door to do 3D design at some point, whether at Warner Bros or somewhere else. Still she would only be a small cog in the wheel. It takes a big team to make it all work so we can enjoy the outcome.

The time and effort spent on some things is enormous and the cost astronomical BUT......

Were I involved in anything to do with these adverts the first question I'd be asking is "Show me how you conclude that spending this money will increase sales and by how much over and above the proposed cost of the work?"

Looking at some of the adverts I wonder whether they put people off buying the product rather than encouraging them to buy.

Thanks for that JD. I do prefer that one to JL's

So do I but it's not going to make me buy anything. Smiley Very Happy

Oh dear, half an hour or so back I saw an advert for ebay. Awful, I don't think that'd encourage anyone to shop on ebay.

Let me guess.......it stared Dell boy Trotter as a seller, Nick Leeson as a buyer and Fred Goodwin as guarantor of the safety of your money.

Are they mad, thick or just plain stupid?

All of the above.

I'm a bit sarcy.

Ha ha, no messing about, straight to the point there.

Although I think the advert's stupid and the song was awful, I don't think this is justified?:-

Just seen that on the news. Heinz even went to the trouble of putting up an online tutorial on how to wash a can and make it safe to use. They obviously think some of their customers are so stupid they need protecting from themselves, you really couldn't make this stuff up, sounds like an April Fool stunt.

I think we are misjudging Heinz deeply caring social conscience, regarding the hardships certain families are bound to feel; during this coming festive season. Despite there being Tom Tom drums for sale on eBay for £10, they obviously know this is beyond the reach of many and want to show them how to make one out of one of their empty cans.......they just got in there before Blue Peter got the chance.Smiley Indifferent
