I think that 'punish' is the wrong term, but I believe it will damage relationships, yes.
If we leave, however, I think the outcome would be a lot worse - and I don't think it's going to end up in our favour. That's just my opinion and my belief.
As I have said right from the start and have maintained throughout: I'd be more convinced by and willing to listen to the Leave campaign if anyone had turned around and said "This is the plan, and on Day 1 (x) will happen...". All I feel I have read and heard, however, is "We have no idea what will happen - we just don't like the EU because of 1-2-3...".
The thing I find most ironic about the whole situation is that the UK was a major driving force in establishing and imposing the EU on Europe - including the ECHR.
I personally don't think my grandfather fought in the war and suffered PTSD to his dying day just so we could throw it away. But again, that's just my opinion...
