Looking at the aerial view of the scene after the accident it appears that a bollard on the opposite side of the road had been flattened. It's difficult to see how he would have hit the shop front at such an angle unless he was travelling on the pavement opposite, maybe he left the roadway further down the street. Didn't see the age of the driver reported yesterday but I admit I did wonder if they were elderly.
