Apart from the odd few posters (across all boards) who openly admit to loving a bit of a ruck, the majority of us find any kind of unpleasantness on threads a big turn off.
I'm getting the feeling that something specific might have happened on here recently that I'm not aware of so I'll shut up now because I have no idea what's gone on and with whom.
On a general note though, I still think that OPs could be more pro-active in keeping their own threads on track.
If you think someone is derailing your thread, then politely ask them to stop.
It's better than sitting there fuming in silence I suppose and it could be that the poster in question is unaware that they are annoying other contributors.
