Prince Charles himself actually commissioned the portraits to be painted by some of Britain's top artists, as a mark of respect of these wonderful veterans who fought in the war all those years ago, and are now in their nineties. 

It's a wonderful display at the Art Gallery at Buckingham Palace. I saw it, and was so pleased I made the effort after a long journey.
