You've just reminded me why I eventually stopped going to AA meetings. Far too many people putting themselves on pedestals for my liking, far too many being hypercritical because of my refusal to keep on introducing myself as an alcoholic even though I hadn't touched a drop in over 10 years. In their eyes once an alcoholic always an alcoholic. It was like a life punishment going there week after week listening to the same old stories (usually over embellished for effect) over and over again.  In the end it was time to move on, I only wish I'd done it earlier.
